Air conditioning Frankston

What Frankston homes need.

Frankston has three kinds of home, and each one points to a different air conditioner. A lot of brick veneer houses from the 1960s to the 1980s, a growing number of units and townhouses, and the bigger homes of Frankston South on the hill and along the water.

01 / Brick veneer with ducted gas

Ducted gas heating already in the ceiling.

Most brick veneer homes across Frankston were built with gas ducted heating, and the ducts are still up there. If they are sound, add-on refrigerated cooling on the existing ductwork is the cheapest route to whole-home cooling, and one set of vents does summer and winter. Checking the ducts is the first thing we do at the assessment.

02 / Units and townhouses

Units, townhouses and apartments.

Frankston has more units and townhouses every year. The question there is rarely the indoor unit. It is where the outdoor unit can go, how far the line run is, and what the body corporate will approve. A single split or a multi-head system handles most of them, and we sort the outdoor position before we quote.

03 / Frankston South

Bigger homes on the hill and near the water.

Frankston South homes are larger, often split-level, and the ones near Olivers Hill and Long Island sit in salt air. Zoned ducted reverse cycle suits them, with the airflow to the far rooms designed rather than guessed, and a coastal-grade outdoor unit sited out of the spray where the property is close to the bay.

What a Frankston installation includes:

  • A check of any existing ductwork before we recommend add-on cooling or a new ducted air system
  • Sizing and airflow worked out for the actual house, not a catalogue table
  • An energy-efficient reverse cycle unit from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu or Panasonic
  • Outdoor unit placement agreed with you, and with the body corporate for a unit or townhouse
  • Work done under ARC refrigerant licence L062149 and VBA registration 50861

Frankston South and North

Bigger homes and salt air to the south, post-war homes with ducted gas to the north. Ducted and add-on cooling respectively, most of the time.

Karingal, Langwarrin, Seaford and Carrum Downs

Family homes from the 1970s onwards in Karingal and Seaford, many with existing ductwork, and newer estates in Langwarrin and Carrum Downs. Add-on cooling or a split for the living area, ducted for the bigger new homes.

Mount Eliza and the Peninsula

Mount Eliza is next door and we are in Mount Martha, Mornington and the rest of the Peninsula every week, and out to Cranbourne. See our air conditioning on the Mornington Peninsula page for the whole area.

How we work

Every job starts with an assessment.

We come to your home, look at the building properly, ask how you use each space, and recommend a system that suits it. Every installation is done under ARC refrigerant licence L062149 and VBA registration 50861.

i.

We visit

At your Frankston home, not over the phone. We check the roof cavity, any existing ducts, and where the outdoor unit can go.

ii.

We ask

How you use each room, so the system fits the way you live. A unit with one living area and a family home with four bedrooms need different things.

iii.

We quote

A clear, itemised written quote. Where there is a real choice, we lay out the options and what each one costs.

iv.

We install

A clean install on an honest timeline, by the same technicians from the first visit to handover, with our workmanship behind it.

Frankston FAQs

The honest answers, up front.

If your question is not here, call us on 1800 577 522, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, or email and we will answer it straight.

Split systems start from $1,600 for one room and $4,990 for a three-room multi-head. Add-on cooling to existing ducted heating starts from $4,900. Whole-home ducted refrigerated air conditioning starts from $6,990 for a small house and around $11,000 for most houses. The firm figure comes from the free assessment. See all our prices.

If the ducts are sound and sized well, add-on cooling is the better value: one new outdoor unit and coil on your existing ductwork, from $4,900. If the ducts are undersized, leaking or past their life, a new zoned ducted refrigerated system replaces heating and cooling in one go. We inspect the ductwork at the assessment and tell you which one your house needs.

Yes. A split system or a multi-head is the usual answer. The parts to settle first are where the outdoor unit goes, how the pipework runs, and what the body corporate requires. We work that out before we quote so there are no surprises on install day.

Often, yes. The Victorian Energy Upgrades program offers discounts when an old gas heater or inefficient air conditioner is replaced with an energy-efficient reverse cycle system. The amount depends on the home and the system, so we do not quote a figure here. We check your eligibility at the assessment and show it on the quote.

No. We install and replace heating and cooling systems for homes, and we do not do repairs, maintenance or commercial work. If your system has a fault, a service company is the right call. If it is old enough that repair no longer makes sense, we will give you an honest replacement quote. Clean the filters each season and most systems look after themselves.
